Developing Leader All Star Honoree Profile - Lindsey Coakley, Cushman & Wakefield l Boerke
Name/Title/Company: Lindsey Coakley / Real Estate Advisor / Cushman & Wakefield l Boerke
Number of Years in NAIOP Wisconsin?: 1 (Entering year 2!)
What project or professional or personal accomplishment are you most proud of?: I assisted Bravo’s Top Chef in securing 72,000 SF of temporary space in Milwaukee for their 21st season, which showcased Wisconsin's vibrant food culture, talented chefs, and local ingredients! You can check out a live interview I did with TMJ4 here.
Where did you grow up, go to high school or college?: My family is from Franklin, Wisconsin and because the Coakley family business dates to the late 1800’s I have been immersed in the Coakley family business from an early age – CH Coakley, a commercial real estate services firm that specializes in industrial facility services, interior buildouts, and commercial office relocation solutions for tenants and owners nationwide. Having been fortunate to work alongside my father my entire life, he instilled first-hand exposure to the real estate world and instilled in me a strong work ethic and passion for industry. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a degree in economics, and my upbringing has played a meaningful role in shaping my career in commercial real estate.
Who introduced you to NAIOP Wisconsin and how has the DL All Star program contributed to your success in the industry as a young professional?: I was introduced to NAIOP through several colleagues who spoke highly of the organization and its impact on their own careers. That said, my mentor Jeff Hoffman at Cushman & Wakefield | Boerke specifically encouraged me to apply for the DL All Star Program and become an active member. The DL All Star Program has been a tremendous asset to my growth as a young professional in commercial real estate. It has significantly expanded my network across the CRE community and connected me with talented peers, senior leaders, and decision-makers throughout the industry. The informational sessions have been especially valuable — covering everything from key legislative and regulatory updates to in-depth market insights, development trends, and investment outlooks. These programs provide real, actionable perspective that I apply directly in my day-to-day work. One of the most impactful components of the program has been the Mentorship Program. During my first year in DL, I was paired with Liza Romans of Northwestern Mutual. We met consistently throughout the year — more than six times over coffee — where we discussed both personal and professional goals, career development, leadership strategies, creative problem-solving, and broader market trends. Liza exemplifies strategic leadership and a strong commitment to advancing knowledge across the industry, and her guidance has been an extremely positive influence on my professional development. Between the networking opportunities, leadership exposure, educational programming, and mentorship, NAIOP has played a meaningful role in accelerating my career and deepening my understanding of the commercial real estate industry. I’m grateful for the relationships I’ve built through NAIOP's DL Program and look forward to staying actively involved in 2026 and beyond.
What advice would you give today, to you five years ago?: I would tell myself to continue working hard every day – outwork yourself and be relentless in learning – lean into relationships and trust that asking questions is a strength, not a weakness. The commercial real estate industry is built on experience, mentorship, and long-term relationships, and I’ve learned that the people around you are just as important as the deals themselves. I’d also remind myself to be patient — real success in this business compounds over time. Market knowledge and expertise, along with strong relationships, are what make some of the best brokers in this industry. Stay curious, stay consistent, and seek out opportunities to learn from experienced professionals. That’s where the real growth happens.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?: In 10 years, I see myself as a more seasoned and well-established commercial real estate professional, advising industrial tenants, landlords, and owners across Wisconsin while leading complex transactions and shaping strategy for the next generation of brokers. Personally, I will remain rooted in Wisconsin, staying connected to my community and family, and maintaining a strong work-life balance while pursuing both career growth and personal fulfillment.
What is one thing you can't live without? My phone — it keeps me connected to clients, my team, friends, family, and everything happening in the market. It’s basically my office, calendar, and social life all in one.
What is one thing about you most people don't know?: Most people don’t know that I was a walk-on for the University of Wisconsin track team — it was a total test of grit and determination! Years later after graduating, I returned to my high school alma mater to coach boys’ and girls’ track hurdles, which has been incredibly rewarding and a great way to help athletes build technique and confidence.
