Name/Title/Company: Brion Winters / Shareholder / von Briesen & Roper, s.c.
Briefly tell us what you do, and length of time in the CRE industry: I am a transactional attorney that focuses on real estate, finance, M&A and general corporate projects. My real estate practice and clients are quite diverse. I have drafted, reviewed or revised just about every kind of real estate document imaginable and I work for developers, companies, individuals and municipalities. My broad and diverse practice gives me great perspective and insight to provide value to a deal. I have been practicing law for 17 years (started out in-house at M&I Wealth Management) and working in the CRE industry for the last 15 years.
Which project or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?: The project that I am most proud of is my work for the Village of Menomonee Falls on the White Stone Station project (it was my first real estate project at the firm, had many different twists and turns through the years and has resulted in a truly amazing development for the Village). I am also very proud of the confidence bestowed upon me by the firm in naming me as a co-chair of our Real Estate Section at von Briesen...look out Wisconsin because here we come!
How are you involved or would like to be more involved in NAIOP Wisconsin?: My involvement with NAIOP through the years has consisted of attending numerous events (von Briesen is a sponsor of the Public Policy Forum) and I hope to increase my and my firm's involvement with getting more of our attorneys involved in the developing leaders program.
Tell us about your family: I have been married to my wife, Amy, for almost 13 years now. We have three boys (Braun (11), Griffin (9) and Jordan (7)). While we spend most of our hours these days running between various sporting events for the boys, in our spare time, we all enjoy a family five-some of golf at Tuckaway Country Club followed by a dip in the pool and a Blue Bunny "Big Bopper" ice cream sandwich to cap off the perfect day.
What is your favorite quote?: "Adversity breeds and exposes character."
What's your favorite restaurant and why?: Chili's - Bottomless chips and salsa and chicken, bacon ranch quesadillas...what more could you want!?!?
What music are you listening to and what is the first and last concert you attended?: I have very eclectic music tastes. If you see me cutting my grass with my AirPods in, I'm likely listening to 90's hardcore rap. My first concert was Phil Collins (circa 1989) and my last concert was John Legend. See...eclectic!
What is your favorite vacation destination?: Aruba...hands down.
What's something about you most people don't know?: My name IS spelled with an "o," I was NOT a Milwaukee Bucks player and I was a food vendor (mostly selling peanuts) at Milwaukee County Stadium and Miller Park for many years.
What are your hobbies?: Golf, golf and more golf.
