New Member Spotlight- David Luy, Three Leaf Partners

Briefly tell us what you do, and length of time in the CRE industry: Financial modeling, deal underwriting, feasibility and other analysis for all projects alongside development leads for many different asset types and investment opportunities - mainly focused on new multifamily development (both market rate and affordable). I've been in the CRE industry since graduating from UW-Madison in December 2013, starting in Commercial Appraisal and then Property Management and Development. Almost a decade in various capacities.

Which project or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?: Coming into a newly formed organization, Three Leaf Partners, and helping build the company from the ground up after the merger of Three Leaf Development and Catalyst Partners. Even with my focus on the financial analysis, I had the opportunity to take on much more responsibility and work in many other development/organizational roles. The experience of growing alongside our company of 4 or 5 in a small suburban office to a 18 person team with a downtown office was invaluable and exciting.

How are you involved or would like to be more involved in NAIOP Wisconsin?: Back in Undergrad, I competed at the Minneapolis NAIOP Real Estate Case Competition which was actually my first introduction to the organization. However, I just recently joined as a new member this year at the recommendation of my colleagues at TLP and plan to participate in regular meetings/conferences on a monthly/bi-weekly basis. I would like to meet other young professionals in our local market and continue to build relationships with my current co-workers who are members. 

Tell us about your family: I grew up in Brookfield, WI in a family of 4 with one younger sister, Kathy. I am recently married to wife Evelyn on May 20. We have one ~3 yr old Golden Retriever, Magnolia, and are planning to start building our family out in our new home in Lisbon in the near future.

Favorite foods at Summerfest and State Fair?: Summerfest - Lemonade stand. State Fair - Deep Fried Cookie Dough. 

Cats or dogs? Do you have pets?: One ~3 year old Golden Retriever, Magnolia who loves to swim, fetch, work with her nose and go on adventures. 

Favorite county or state park?: Favorite County Park - Nashotah Park. Favorite State Park - Blue Mounds State Park

How do you find a moment of peace to calm or center yourself?Going for a walk during the workday or riding my bike to/from the office. Helps reset and de-stress.
