Briefly tell us what you do, and length of time in the CRE industry: Over the past 15 years, I have been a real estate attorney guiding the development of billions of dollars of commercial, industrial and energy projects throughout the United States. As Senior Counsel at Husch Blackwell, I represent developers, investors, owners and lenders across sectors to provide smart solutions to support energy generation and sustainability, project development, real estate transactions and land use approvals.
What project or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?: Every time I drive into Madison on John Nolen Drive or East Washington Avenue, I can see many projects I helped develop that have contributed to the growth of Madison, which gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
How would you like to be more involved in NAIOP Wisconsin?: I was previously involved with the Madison Committee and also attended a number of events in Milwaukee, and look forward to rejoining those activities.
Tell us about your family: Originally from Green Bay, I lived in Madison for 15 years before spending the last 5 years in Chicago. I have a Blue Heeler named Luna who loves going on road trips and hikes around the Midwest.
What's your favorite restaurant and why?: Sala Thai in Madison. They have a Pad Krapow dish that is unmatched, and the staff is so friendly. One time I walked in and the owner happily shouted, "I saw you in Madison Magazine!"
How do you find a moment of peace or calm to center yourself?: My favorite time of day is the early morning, when I have time to gather my thoughts and think about the day ahead. My dog and I usually walk 3-4 miles per day, which is a great opportunity to unplug during the day.
Favorite vacation destination?: The Driftless Region in southwest Wisconsin. I take a trip there every summer and usually go hiking at Wildcat Mountain, Grandad Bluff and Pikes Peak State Park.
What are your hobbies?: I have been an endurance athlete since 2016 and have completed three Ironman 70.3 triathlons, two full marathons and 12 half marathons. I'm running the Chicago Marathon again this year in October.
Cats or dogs? Do you have pets?: I am an advocate for animal rescue of all types and adopted my dog from PAWS Chicago, an outstanding no-kill shelter. They partner with shelters in other parts of the country, including the Humane Society of Cherokee County, Oklahoma, where Luna was originally from.
