Briefly tell us what you do and how long you have been in the Commercial Real Estate industry: I joined Zilber Property Group in January of 2023 and will focus on industrial development projects and acquisitions. Prior to this, I spent 20+ years working in various economic development roles, including as President of the Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA) from 2004-2022.
Which project or professional accomplishment are you most proud of?: Haribo of America's Pleasant Prairie development and ULINE's Kenosha Campus In both cases, I worked with a team of professionals (including local, regional or State officials) to eliminate various development hurdles that helped secure these projects, and significant new jobs and investment for Southeast Wisconsin. Haribo & ULINE are world class organizations and their developments have had an incredibly postive impact on the region.
How are you involved or would like to be more involved in NAIOP Wisconsin?: As a relative "newcomer" to the industry, I hope to leverage my involvement with NAIOP as an opportunity to learn and foster new relationships.
Tell us about your family: My wife (Katie) and I live in Kenosha and have two daughters: Cameron (16) and Darby (14). Katie and I are both originally from Michigan, but moved to Wisconsin in 2004 and have made this our home. Most of our extended family resides in West Michigan.
What's the last, or favorite book you read?: Most recent - Amazon Unbound: Jeff Bezos and the Invention of a Global Empire.
What's the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?: Not recent, but funny/embarrassing. I was once at a charity golf outing grabbing a quick lunch/sandwich before the event tee'd off. I was walking out of the club house onto a patio the led down to the golf carts. I walked right into a glass door and smashed my lunch all over myself. That glass was so clean that I thought the door was open...
What music are you listening to, and first and last concert you attended?: Country (Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Eric Church, etc.) Last concert was Cody Jinks at the Riverside.
Who is your favorite author and/or what is your favorite quote?: Love Teddy Roosevelt's "Man in the Arena" speech/passage. Good reminder on the importance of rolling up your sleeves and taking on important work - - AND disregarding those on the sidelines offering criticism.
What are your hobbies?: Golf is first; Anything else is distant second...
Cats or dogs? Do you have pets?: Dogs. Just prior to the start of the pandemic, we got our first dog as a family. We rescued a mini-schnauzer (Sami).
What is one item you cannot live without?: Ice cream.
How do you find a moment of peace to calm or center yourself?: I always feel better and have better state of mind after a work out.
